Who: Zach and Logan
When: Afternoon
Where: Logan and Mitsuko's Cottage
What: Zach comes to check in on his friend.

Despite the funeral having come and gone, Zach thought it was best to give Logan his space for a little while. He didn't drop by Logan's place to see his friend yesterday because it felt like it was too soon, and maybe Logan wanted some time alone to himself. Zach hated to intrude on a person's alone time, especially after something like this happened, but he wanted to check in on Logan and make sure the other boy was alright. It wasn't everyday when then girl you liked turned up murdered in such a brutal way.

He had walked from his cottage to Logan's place, not wanting to take a horse since he needed the time in between to think. When he got there, he wasn't even sure anyone would answer the door. If Logan was against having company, Zach would find himself stuck outside in the light drizzle pouring down from the sky. There was no umbrella, but Zach had on a large, knee-length rainproof coat with a hood pulled over his head. His hands were crammed into his pockets, and his boots were thick and muddy from tracking through wet ground.

It wasn't long until he reached his destination, and Zach walked up to the door and rapped his knuckles against the wood. "Is anyone home?" Zach asked loudly. "It's me, Zach," he said, hoping most of all that Logan would be inside somewhere.

Who: Elijah and Jamile
When: Mid-afternoon, around 2 PM
Where: The café
What: Humans can be very territorial

The café was filled to the brim with customers, to the point where there wasn't any place to sit at all. The outside tables were out of the question since it was raining, and Elijah didn't fancy getting wet since he was trying to warm up with a cup of coffee. He let out a soft sigh as he waited for his latte to be made, eyes scanning the people who occupied the tables.

The elemental couldn't help that his thoughts immediately went to the two girls who were killed on Halloween. It was very possible that the killer was sitting right there in the café without a care in the world. He (or she) probably felt proud of their act, thinking that they had just gotten away with a heinous crime. No witnesses, no evidence, no clue to who could have done the killing was left behind. The killer was a veritable ghost.

"Sir, your drink," said the man behind the counter as he handed Elijah his latte.

"Thanks," was the only replied offered as he took the drink and began looking for an empty seat. A few people had gotten up to leave, and at least he had a small selection of tables to choose from. But then he spied a girl getting up from a table near one of the windows, and as soon as she was away he moved to snag the empty seat. He settled down into the chair, eyes cast toward the rain that fell against the glass as he lifted his steaming cup of coffee to his lips. Relaxation at last, or at least that's what the elemental believed.

Who: Ada, Adio (if this isn't okay, just let me know and I'll take it down.)
What: Another meeting!
Where: Near the medical pavilion
When: Afternoon

Ada's legs were still feeling a little bit rubbery after the long jog she took earlier in the morning, but a short nap before lunch had gotten her ready for the rest of the day. Lunch, however, was trickier. She'd looked in the pantry to find that there was only one blood bag left. She really needed to plan better. Saving that one for the next time she forgot, she set off for the pavilion, that uneasy feeling that everything living around her was food setting her on edge.

She'd tried to be sociable throughout her time in Elysium, but she didn't want to risk looking anyone in the eye right now. Actually, the eyes weren't the problem. It was the smell, the pulse of the life that flowed beneath the skin, the way that she knew instinctually that one bite at the wrist or neck would sate that hunger that seemed to never truly be satisfied.

It was disturbing. The weeks that had passed since her turning had done nothing to change that.

She knew that she wasn't quite at the point of losing control. Resisting the hunger was something she was getting more used to as she tried to push herself a little bit more. She hadn't reached that point where it started to scare her, where she worried if she would sink her teeth into the next person to walk by, but she still didn't like the feeling. The thirst was only nagging, not overwhelming, but it was still the most unpleasant feeling she knew.

She nursed a coffee instead, carrying her empty messenger bag as she walked from her cottage to the medical pavilion.

Who: Hayate and Chris
When: Early morning
Where: Hayate's Cottage
What: Hayate wakes Chris to show her what he brought back from the harpy nest.

When he returned that night from the nest of the harpies, Hayate placed everything he had taken with him into its normal place within his home. The sword went back into the extra room in its case. His warm clothing went back into the closet. He walked over to the bathroom to take a shower. After all, his trip to the mountains left him disheveled and dirty. Once he was washed up, the vampire had changed into light clothes for wearing around the house, a loose white cotton shirt with matching pants, and headed into his bedroom. There, fast asleep upon his bed, was Chris. He stood in the doorway for a moment, watching her as she slept. The girl was breathing deeply, tummy down on the mattress, a sheet covering her up. Hayate's fingers idly tapped against the wooden door frame as he gazed across the room at her sleeping form.

Finally, he stepped into the room, retrieving the necklace from within his pocket. The clasp was broken, which was a foul of the harpies, but it was in one piece. He sat down on the bed next to Chris, reaching out with his free hand to gently brush the hair off of her forehead and out of her eyes. Silence pervaded the room as his fingers swept away the stray strands of blonde hair, and he brushed the back of his hand against her skin. "Chris," Hayate said softly. He repeated her name again and again, urging her to awaken.

Several minutes passed before she realized that someone was brushing back her hair, and touching her skin. )

Who: Ada and Sydni
What: An early morning meeting
Where: The beach
When: Just after dawn on sunday

Ada had intended to go for an early morning jog when woken just before dawn by a dog barking outside her window. She figured she would make it to the edge of town, maybe a little bit outside. A mile or two was usually her maximum length run because she either got bored or tired and wound up walking home. Track pants and a sweatshirt on, she pulled her hair into a ponytail and took off, wishing for the thousandth time she had an iPod or something to keep her company. Instead, she just let the old familiar songs play over in her head. It wasn't the same, but it was better than nothing.

Sunday: November 4, 2007

Who: Charlie and Mikhail (and Maggie NPC'd)
When: Sunday around 1pm
Where: outside Charlie's home in Helicharis
What: a meeting (maybe followed by killing harpies!)

With lunch finished and the dishes as well, Alicia shooed Charlie and Maggie out of the house. She wanted a nap, as she often did these days. 'Nap' had become a code of sort between Charlie and Alicia, meaning she needed some time to cry without Maggie seeing her. Charlie understood, he often went for 'runs' to have some time to grieve himself. They'd both agreed that while Maggie could know they were sad about Lewis and William's deaths, it wouldn't do her any good to see her last surviving family members have total breakdowns. It was Alicia's turn now, and Charlie was more than willing to distract Maggie in the meantime.

Charlie decided it would be fun to play a little football with Maggie in the front yard. They had a lot of space here, and it was the kind of day that felt like football weather. From time to time, there were sprinkles, and it was somewhat chilly, but Charlie had made sure to bundle up Maggie before they went outside, and he wouldn't be keeping her out long. Kids needed to stomp around in puddles, it was good for them!

He grabbed a ball and opened the door for Maggie and Cassius to run outside. "Alright, Maggie, it's your job to catch the ball and run it back. Cassius will play defense." Maggie nodded in understanding. She wasn't so good at catching the ball, it usually bounced a bit before she grabbed hold of it, but she still loved playing. Charlie also did a good job of making sure Cassius waited before running after Maggie, and the dog was good about running at a slow enough pace to let the little girl attempt to score. It was hysterical, though, when the dog tackled the little girl and they wrestled for control of the ball.

They played for several minutes, a few people passing by with umbrellas and other rain gear, no one really stopping to chat, but several of them laughing at Maggie's skills on the field.

Elysium Residents!

Some of you know me, others don't. I'm Heather Jao, and before coming to Elysium, I was a professional Muai Thai and MMA fighter. I've trained in kickboxing since I was a child, and I'm lucky enough to have my professional trainer here at the haven with me. Starting tomorrow, he and I will begin offering two classes a day, one at 11am, the other at 4pm. They will focus on the Muai Thai discipline, which is far and above the most practical and effective form of self defense. These classes will be co-ed, because the world isn't divided by gender, and I think it's best to train for real-life situations. Master Wongsa and I will teach you how to defend yourself against attackers, which I didn't think was necessary here until the recent murders of two women in our community. There's no need for you to sign up for these classes, just come to the combat gym! Everything you'll need will be provided, just make sure you wear comfortable clothes that you can move in and bring a big bottle of water. I promise you have fun and feel great about yourself.

I look forward to seen lots of you!
Heather

Who: Ath Dara (OPEN TO 1-Jayden has issues with group logs)
When: About 11 o'clock
Where: On the beaten path to Helicharis from the forest cottages
What: Ath Dara needs to pick up some things for lunch (and harpies attack?)

Yesterday had been an exciting experience, that was for sure. The faun standing on the porch of her family's cottage looked up at the sky when she felt rain upon her head. A gentle hand lifted to touch the wet flecks with cold fingers. "Ooh," Ath Dara felt a shiver slink up her arm from realization that her hands were chilled, too. This was not a pleasant day. Sighing, but humming to keep her spirits light, she turned round and entered the house. "If you go out today, bring an umbrella! And wear some mittens!" Like those scaredy-cats could ever go out. Pft. The brunette shook her head with sorrow at her pitiful family existence. They just let life walk on by because they were too afraid to make new friends outside of their own species. Well, Ath Dara had already proved she wasn't going to sit by and let that happen! With Caden still on the brain, the faun opened the front door and popped open the black umbrella once pulling on some red, knit mittens her mother had made.

There's something about fauns with umbrella's that I can't quite place my finger on. . . )

Who: General Narrative
When: Early Morning
Where: Town Hall
What: Letters to all Vice-Council Nominees

The Vice-Council nominations was the first political venture of Elysium, and therefore it was taken very seriously by the Head Council. The council hoped that those nominated would take the endeavor seriously since at the end of it all they would be in charge of many things in the haven. Their appointment would not only assist the Head Council in various tasks, but those in the Vice-Council would serve as examples for the rest of the citizens.

The community was not small enough that everyone knew everyone by name or by face alone. Those nominated for the position of Vice-Council would have to get their name out to the public, they would have to campaign for votes amongst the citizens. The Head Council sent out letters to each of the nominees to congratulate and to inform them of the upcoming campaigning period.

THE LETTER DISPATCHED: Giles Audley, Devin Blair, Sascha Connolly, Mikhail Dmitriv, Midori Kamiyama, Dominic Powell, Leon Saunders, Nathaniel Wyatt )

Who: Hayate [Narrative]
When: Nighttime
Where: Northwest Mountains
What: It’s time for a harpy slaughtering.

A gentle ticking sound echoed throughout the air, the wind sifting through his hair with its invisible fingers, as the vampire’s silent footsteps drew toward the darkened corner of the mountainside. The ticking was inside of his head, resounding in the corners of his skull like a nursery rhyme. Hayate hummed a tune with barely vibrating vocal chords, entertaining himself as if this were an idle pastime he were engaging in after dark. All of the harpies were sleeping, the females watching over the nest of babies.

Removing his sword from its sheath, the silver blade glistening under starlight from above, Hayate approached their open abode. Closer and closer he drew to the babies in their nest, his eyes searching for the sight of something that would released a glimmer into the darkness.

There.

Hayate spotted the necklace in the nest. Using his sword, he gently managed to scoop up the necklace and remove it from their bed. He dropped the necklace into his hand and pocketed it. That part was easy enough, but here came the real fun. Hayate smiled in a devilish way as he sheathed his sword and opened the bottle of alcohol. As soundlessly as possible, Hayate began to soak the nest with alcohol. He pulled out the unlit torch, previously soaked with alcohol, and lit it with his lighter.

The torch went up in flames, and Hayate threw it into the nest. Suddenly, the harpies awoke and screeched loudly into the air. The babies were cooking alive in the flames, many of the females shrieking in horror as they flapped their wings — perhaps in some hope to put out the flames, but they only fanned them and caused them to grow. Then, they noticed him.

Hayate drew out his sword, gritting his teeth as he beheaded the first harpy that came towards him. Another came, and Hayate sliced it open. The bird screeched and fell to the ground, its insides splattering on the stone beneath his feet. Each movement of his sword was quick, slaughtering the birds as they neared him. They were not as fast as him. Mother after mother fell to the ground, even as the rest of the swarm awoke and came to see what sort of havoc was being wrecked upon their home.

Finally, enough of their attention was drawn towards the fire that Hayate left, mostly undetected, to disappear into the night — save for one of the lone harpies, staring angrily off to see the intruder escaping into the distance.

Who: Adio, Leo and Shawn
When: Late Afternoon
Where: Medical Pavilion
What: Treating the two boys after the nasty encounter with the harpies

Adio for some reason had a sense that something good was going to happen today. Of course this made him do useless things around the Pavilion like throw a pencil towards the ceiling and see if he could catch it with the bridge of his nose. So far, the best he had done was almost poke his eye out. The only reason he had time to do anything of the stupid nature, was because there was nothing to do other than make conversation or maybe stock items. What a quiet day. It was driving him crazy.

He figured he would just leave and go to the market so he waved goodbye to the few people at the Pavilion before he made way towards the exit. What was it? Why did he feel more upbeat than usual? Maybe it was the three cups of coffee. But usually he was crashed out on a desk by now near snoozing.

When he was almost at the door, he spotted two individuals heading towards the Pavilion. They were somewhat far off still, but he could tell they didn’t appear to be in the best of shape. After jogging to their aid, he looked them over, a brow furrowing in concern. They looked even worse now that he was up close. “What the hell happened to you two?” He started to usher them towards the Pavilion. “Here come inside.”

Who: Kayo and Open!
When: Evening
Where: Around the marketplace area
What: Exploring the Marketplace after settling into one of the cottages in Helicharis

After spending much time brooding and recuperating in the northern forests, Kayo decided to move into Helicharis and create a fresh start. The girl did not regret her decision as she looked around her. Albeit it was not her homeland, the atmosphere, the lights, and the citizens walking through the streets comforted her. What she was unused to the most was how it wasn't all humans and she did not need to expend the extra energy to hide her fox like features (although she still did it out of trained habit). Slowly she lifted her illusion to reveal a soft long tail, wagging slowly back and forth.

However a fleeting feeling of loneliness swept into her mind as she wished Nagi was able to experience this hopeful town with her. She closed her eyes and let the feeling pass. When she opened again, reminding herself that this was a second chance and she'll need to have double the fun in absence of her little brother.

Who: Jamile, Adio and Sanura
When: Evening
Where: Towards then at Adurile Cottage
What: Reunion!

“Okay thank you!” Jamile waved at a civilian who directed her further down the road heading further towards the cottages that seemed to be neatly placed around Helicharis. Elysium was going to be a surreal experience for her. Though she felt frozen when she first arrived, the temperatures near alien, the friendly people and the hope that she would see her siblings warmed her up. She described them in vivid detail along with the pictures she had of them which were somewhat old. When she heard people recall the female especially she almost felt tears stain her eyes. But she had gotten her hopes up before.

If her siblings were indeed here, they were lucky. Her haven in Africa was small and could never ensure this much safety to so many people. They had a Market, even a restaurant with an aroma so good leaking into her nostrils she sometimes wanted to turn back since she hadn’t eaten in sometime.

When the Therianthrope spotted another civilian she dropped her light set of baggage and took out a picture. “Excuse me. Have you seen these two by any chance?” If not, she heard there was a vacant cottage nearby.

But when she heard the civilian confirm the two were residing nearby, she eagerly asked them to point out where the two were before she ran in the houses direction. The minute she spotted the cottages exterior designs by the windows, she knew it was Sanura’s doing.

Though she would have simply just busted down the doors, she stood at the doorway for a moment, smoothing out her wrinkled shirt before she knocked on the door. She wouldn’t be the one to cry first.

Who: Mitsuko and Irei
When: Night
Where: The Wine Bar
What: Discussions of dark, depressing things

Mitsuko sat at the bar, glass sitting in front of her. She slipped a slender finger around the rim idly. She wasn't exactly sure what she was doing here. It just seemed like the thing to do. Yes, her breakup with Loki had been amicable, but she couldn't say she was at all happy with the outcome of their relationship. She supposed it was better than the end of her last serious relationship. At least this time she hadn't ended up with a knife buried in her.

She didn't want to be at home tonight. She couldn't stand Logan ignoring her any longer. Ignoring everyone. He just stayed in his room, painting. There was nothing she could say to him to make him feel better. He was just... Lost. She couldn't stand to look at him and not be able to do anything. It was as if the last few months of progress hadn't happened. That he was again the mute boy who had just lost his parents.

And there were poor Kaiya and Faye. Mitsuko had seen death before. She'd known people who'd been killed. That happened in her line of work. But it was nothing like this. She'd not seen the bodies herself, but she'd heard what her brother had seen. It was not just a killing. It was a butchering.

She hissed in a breath, flashing back to the memory of a man trying to stab a jagged pool cue through her. The bloodlust in his eyes. Were those eyes the last thing Kaiya and Faye saw?

Picking up her glass, Mitsuko drained it quickly. She had the fleeting idea of picking up some guy and using him shamelessly for the night. It might have made her feel better to indulge in carnal pleasures, to forget about everything, if only for a fleeting moment.

But she doubted she would be able to pick anyone up in her mood. While she had a lot of faith in her good looks, it did take some finesse to pick up a guy. With such dark thoughts in her head, she would no doubt scare any sane man away.

She gestured to her glass, wordlessly asking the barkeep for a refill. She was certain they would go through this routine many times tonight.

Who: Rainey and Travis
When: Evening
Where:Their Bungalow
What: Spending time together and talking about recent events

The moment was intense. Rainey was staring at her father like she was going to choke him at any moment. He was being completely unfair and she slowly reached her hand to the side of the table, her expression growing more and more angrier as she did so. “How many draw fours do you have in your hand!? You cheated! I’m not letting you shuffle the cards again! This is called Uno, not screw Rainey over by giving her eight thousand draw fours.”

She picked up four cards then made a triumphant noise as she set down a yellow “Draw Two” after her father called the color yellow. “Ha, beat that.” It’s time for you to have a taste of your own medicine my friend.” The vampire stuck her tongue out playfully before she gazed her eyes over to the side for a moment.

Despite the recent tragic events, times like these made up for it. But on the negative side, Rainey always thought about how she wouldn’t be able to handle it if she lost her father. She shook her head and quickly went back to the game. “Come on, get too moving old man!”
