| Personality |
Upon meeting Theora one is struck with the sense that they have just stepped into the presence of royalty. She carries herself with elegance and dignity, and only speaks when she believes that she has something important to say. Some may misinterpret her actions as arrogance, but that assumption would be far from the truth. Theora’s life as High Priestess required her to perform every duty, to mutter every word with purpose and grace that it was only natural that it would seep into her personality. But a few private moments with her would be enough to let anyone see that she is kind and gentle and an elf who holds life and all living things in highest regard. Theora can also be stoic and brave on the occasions where she is forced to be a warrior as well as a priestess. She can also be very naïve when it comes to things that she has never experienced (everything outside of her elven home), but she faces these new experiences as challenges and seeks to better herself through them. |
| Personal Background |
Blood Family: Valyn - Father (deceased) Shalisya - Mother (deceased) -Oracle Valruk (as recorded by Ilda’nir the Wise) The Prophesy of Valruk set the criteria for selection of the High Priestess of Elune for over ten-thousand years. Those who are chosen are done so at birth and according to the prophesy must have “the oceans reflected in her eyes.” The interpretation of this has always meant that the one who is chosen must have eyes of the same color as the waters that surround their mystical island – sea green. This is indeed rare since all Twilight Elves are born with eyes that shine as brightly as the moon and for a child to be born with eyes that differ from the norm is considered auspicious and predetermined by fate. The legend states that the child has been kissed by Elune’s Grace which allows her perfect communion with Elune and all of nature. Twilight Elves are named as such for their undying belief that the light that pierces through the darkness is one of the most pure, most powerful and most serene that one can behold. It is through the light of the moon that Twilight Elves gain their power and why they are one of the few elves that will venture out at night to bask in the moon’s holy light. Theora was born in the spring of the twelfth year of King Shalidor’s reign to Valyn and Shalisya. Both were humble elves who served in the King’s army but during such peaceful times, the two warriors found themselves staying at home more often than going out into battle. In fact, it had been many millennia since there was fighting of any kind on the island or anywhere else in the Elven world. It was only natural that the two would eventually start a family. Shalisya had already considered it a blessing to be pregnant, but the moment that Theora entered the world and opened her eyes to reveal the brilliant green orbs did Shalisya fully understand what Elune had given her. Valyn and Shalisya were the parents of the next High Priestess of their world and there was no higher honor than that. They took their young daughter to the Elunian Temple to present her to the current High Priestess who in turn bathed her in the holy waters that sprang forth only in the temple. It was then that she was given the name “Theora” which meant “God’s Light.” Those chosen to be the next High Priestess did not enter the temple for their training until they reached the age of eleven. So for that short amount of time, Theora had a very normal childhood with her parents. In fact, they doted on their daughter every moment they could. Every where they went they were greeted with ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ while some came up to the child and knelt before her in reverence. And even though Valyn and Shalisya told Theora of her destiny every day, she was still too young to comprehend why she had to leave them on her eleventh birthday. Theora was taken to the temple and immediately bathed in the holy waters that flowed up through the temple and clothed in the traditional robes of a High Priestess in waiting. And so began Theora’s life within the Elunian Temple. She would not know of anything else for many many years. Theora was tutored in every aspect of holy magic, starting with the fundamentals of focusing and directing her inherent power. Even for the chosen one it was not an easy task. There were days that were easier than others, but she kept with her studies and soon afterward it became second nature to her. Theora would learn how to heal small wounds on her body and on others and then with more training she began to learn how to heal more complex injuries. Theora spent every moment of her life learning about Elune and the power it held; she learned of its history and its importance in the Elven world. She learned how to harness its holy power and use it to protect life and to heal it when it was wounded. She was the prophesied child whose training had only just begun. Theora's training continued for hundreds of years. Most of her time was spent in the temple, focusing and honing in on the powers that were welled deep within her. She had only freed a portion of it, and still had a long way to go. There were many times when her powers were put to the test, small battles where she was forced to think on her feet and react quickly. There were times when she froze on the spot, unable to do anything except stare at the dying or the injured. It was part of the priestess's growing up, something that gave her strength in the years to come. The priestess had turned 400 years old when she was sent on a pilgrimage beyond the boundaries of her island. It was her first time away from her home, and her people, but it was a necessary part of her training. Theora had to learn of the world around her, for it was also foretold by their oracle that there would come a time when she would be forced to live out amongst other, non-Elven people. Theora spent many years on her journey through the world before that part of her training would be complete. Upon returning to her home and the temple, Theora still had to train in various other environments. From battlefields to other Elven lands, from light to darkness, from hot to cold, Theora had to learn how to endure through all of these extremes even if it brought her pain and suffering. She had to learn how to be strong in all of these situations and then relay her strength to those around her. Such was the essence of being a High Priestess and why each generation had to go through such difficult training. It was in the year 1763 that Theora took her place as High Priestess. Her training was complete, and the previous High Priestess was nearing an age where she had to move on. The ceremony took place on the full moon of the ninth lunar month, and She remained on Eluniar Isle for many years serving as the High Priestess of her people. Her powers grew over time but she never exploited the power or the influence she had obtained. Soon the time came when she had to leave her island once more to pursue training with other young healers at a school for those with powers. There she learned of many things in the modern world and used that knowledge when she learned of Euryale's vision. Leaving the school immediately, Theora set out to assist in the creation of Elysium. The valley once belonged to ancient Elves that had long since abandoned the land for exploration. The land was still fertile and ready for reconstruction in order to prepare for the many people that would soon arrive. When Euryale's vision came to pass and the world was consumed by the Pandora Virus, Theora set out to collect as many praternaturals and humans as she could. She began with former students from the school and brought them and their families to Elysium. She assisted with more gathering missions until the wars began and everyone was forced to stay within the valley. Now, Theora serves as one of the High Council members that oversees the town and the land. |
| Physical Strengths/Weakness, and Magical Abilities & Skills |
Physical strengths: Though they appear frail because of their graceful movements, elven strength, stamina, dexterity, agility, sight, and hearing is 5 times that of a human. Physical weaknesses: Elves are extremely susceptible to sadness, as this emotion weakens not only their hearts, but their entire physical being. An elf can die if it succumbs to extreme sadness. They are susceptible to other elemental states (fire and ice), but it takes an extreme amount of that element to take them down. ~~Holy/Healing/Light magic~~ As a High Priestess, Theora has the ability to heal all sorts of wounds, from small cuts and scrapes, to larger injuries such as broken bones and damaged organs. She also has the ability to bring a person back from the brink of death, but doing so drains her energies and she must rest for many days afterward. ~~Defensive magic~~ Theora has the ability to cast a defensive shield around her body and those near her for a period of time (from 5 minutes to 30 minutes). This shield will defend against all magical and physical damage. The drawback is that those within the shield cannot cast any offensive magic to the attackers outside. ~~Blessings~~ As a High Priestess, Theora can cast blessings on people. These blessings may increase their natural abilities, or bring them a sense of serenity. There are many blessings at Theora's disposal, and the period of time that each blessing is active is dependent on the amount of magic that Theora uses when she casts them. Training - Trained as a High Priestess from the moment she turned eleven. - Stave/staff weapon use. Began training when she was 300 years old and has been using one as her primary weapon since that time. Her stave/staff is made from the Tela’naar Tree (the oldest tree) on Eluniar island. It enhances her ability to focus her energies quickly and to store them if she needs them later on. - Herbology – trained to know which herbs/plants are edible and which can heal and/or be used in combination in certain restorative teas. Special Skills - Elven reverie - Elven communion - Illusion (upon herself or others) - Knows how to make restorative teas |
